Skybox on SP F-70-12 . . .

During our research phase of our Wheels of Time N-scale F-70-10/12/26 flat car project, I ran across a photo of a Southern Pacific F-70-12 flat car with a Skybox. The skybox protects airplane parts from damage during transit. I don't know if this was assigned to McDonnell Douglas, Boeing or Lockheed airplanes. I am giving a shout out if you know more about this skybox on F-70-12 flat car(s). Was it a one-off prototype?

BTW- be sure to reserve your flat cars by Nov. 21 from your favorite dealer or direct.

Ok this doesn't have anything to do with Wheels of Time in a direct sort of way. But I hope it will spark your imaginations to go out and model the prototype and see the real thing every so often. On my receent trip to the Grand Canyon, I took some time to check out the action.  Enjoy!Westbound merchandise train with a Warbonnet loco no. 930 in the consist!FedEx boxes at Williams. Cool bridge. Northern Pacific Railway fans

Here's a photo of our Northern Pacific Railway baggage car fresh from the factory paint shop - with the authentic NP Loewy Light and Dark Green. So NP fans rest assure, it's a match. I am grateful for the historical society's paint chips! (Hint if you are from another historical society: I think other historical societies should make available paint chips like NPRHA.)  Looks like our factory problems are solved. Full steam ahead!
